History of Europe

In this essay, I will be giving an overview of the History of Europe from 500-1750 AD.

500-1000 AD

After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe began dividing itself into separate city-states this divided the country into many different regions. But Europe was still very disorganized and undeveloped at this time.

By 1000 AD, Europe has started to get out of a period known as the “Dark Ages(caused by the collapse of Rome). There were some stable Kings, but the situation of Europe was still far from stable. The strongest nations in Europe at this time were England, France, and the Holy Roman Empire.

1200-1400 AD

1200 AD, the Muslims in Iberia have been kicked out, but still remain an enemy to the Spaniards. All the land in Europe has now been claimed, which causes the European nations to attack each other. Most of the tension politically is caused by the disagreement of the Church and State.

A lot happened in 1400 AD, Europe faced the Black Death or the Bubonic Plague; the last remnants of the great Roman Empire, Constantinople; falls after getting captured by the Ottoman Empire. In late 1400 AD, Columbus discovered North America, which brought on a new era, Colonization.

Tom Sawyer.

Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, has many bright and entertaining characters with different personalities. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the characters Tom, Huck Finn, and Aunt Polly.

Tom

The main character of this book is a funny outgoing twelve-year-old boy who is very curious, mischievous, dramatic, and superstitious; he can be very manipulative as well.  He even gets his friends to do his chores for him. He gets into trouble throughout the book but the book would not be entertaining if he didn’t. Even with all of his faults he can be a rather sweet and nice boy, who is still learning and figuring out life.

Huck Finn

Huck is Tom’s good friend, he is the son of the town drunkard. Because of that and his background, he is a very wild, rough, and fun boy to be around even though most of the parents in the town have forbidden their children to spend time with him. Huck doesn’t seem to care about his not “so good reputation” with the parents since a lot of the children want to spend time with him thanks to his reputation of being “not a great kid”. He likes getting into a fight or two.

Aunt Polly

Aunt Polly is Tom’s Aunt. She is a compassionate kind woman, but she threatens to beat Tom whenever he gets into trouble but usually can’t bring herself to do it, when she does though she really regrets it after doing it.

Conclusion

Aunt Polly is much different from Tom and Huck, because she is not a young boy, who likes fighting, pretending to be a pirate, and treasure hunting all of these Tom and Huck both love doing.

But she does share one thing in common she is pretty superstitious and jumps to conclusions pretty quickly, but other than that she is much different a character than Tom and Huck who both have a lot in common.

History

In this essay I will be writing about the History of Europe from 500-1750 AD.

500-1000 AD

After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe began dividing itself into separate city-states that divided the country into many different regions. But Europe was still very disorganized and undeveloped at this time.

1200 AD, the Muslims in Iberia were kicked out, but still remain as an enemy to the Spaniards. All the land in Europe has now been claimed, which causes the European nations to attack each other. Most of the tension politically is caused by the disagreement of Church and State.

A lot happened in 1400 AD, Europe faced the Black Death or the Bubonic Plague; the last remnants of the great Roman Empire,Constantinople, fell after getting captured by the Ottoman Empire. In late 1400 AD, Columbus discovered North America, which brought on a new era, Colonization.

1750 AD

Sweden has now gained much when it comes to territory, now governing most of Scandinavia. The Ottoman Empire is held back from Eastern Europe, thanks to Austria, Poland, and Russia. England, France, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands have gained vast overseas colonies, which has increased the wealth of Europe.

Conclusion

A lot more than just this has happened in Europe during this time period, this is just a basic overview on how Europe has changed during these time periods.

“Three Things I Can Change to Use Time Better”

For starters waking up earlier. Which will benefit me in so many ways. For example, if I start school earlier I’ll finish earlier than ever. Which will give me more time for other productive activities like work, chores, and music practice.

My second thing is shortening my breaks. If I take shorter breaks in between work I’ll cut out time to procrastinate and productivity finish whatever work I have.

The third thing I can change is to start using my downtime wisely. For example, if I have free time during the day I’ll do things like reading books, Art or doing other productive activities.

Also if I’m in the car I can do research or plan and schedule what I have later on in the day.

Those are the few ways I think I can use time better.

Controlling my expenses.

1. Set Saving Goals

It’s always good to make a plan. For example I will have to save my money in order to buy a car eventually. Once I have a clear idea of what I’m saving for, I will be prepared to work toward that goal. I’ll Think of my goals as a line of defense protecting me from spending inordinately.

2. Plan My Budget

Keeping track of how much I am spending, “making a budget”. Over time, I will see how much I spend every day, week, month, and year. I can analyze my budget, and pinpoint exactly what I need.  I will also keep track of my income in the same manner – making sure that I am not spending more than I earn. In any case, simply cutting out the expenses that aren’t necessary.

3. Balance Before I Spend

Always being aware of my financial condition. When I have a good idea of my finances, then I can make purchases, still budgeting though. For example if I made less money that week than the last, I would spend less on eating out and pack my own lunch from home. Balancing my money and expenses will provide me with the willpower to avoid spending too much.

Those are three ways I will control my small expenses.
