Immigration to America in the Late 1800’s

There was a great raise of immigrants from Europe to America in the late 1800s. There were many reasons why the people immigrated to America. One being the opportunities in America, and crisis in their own countries.

The people who came to America mostly came from the countries and regions of Europe are Great Britain, Ireland, and Scandinavia, but some came also from southern and eastern Europe and even some from Asia. All the people that migrated from Europe and Asia used boats to cross the great Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The Europeans took the route across the Atlantic ocean to immigrate to America landing on the east coast cities of America like New York, but the Asians took the route across the Pacific ocean and arrived in the west coast cities of America.

When the Immigrants arrive in America they are tested for their health before entering America in immigration processing centers such as Ellis Island in New york.

The reason why many Europeans came to America in the late 1800s is because of Europe’s many crises and the rising economy of America. In Europe, in the late 1800s, there were famines, wars, and social upheaval in Europe such as the Irish Potato famine and the Franco-Prussian War which cause many to seek refuge in America. In America, in the late 1800s, there was an economic boom and increasing prosperity because of the great Industrialization revolution and the peace America had and vast lands filled with natural riches that was untouched caused America to be a land of opportunity where anybody that wants to work hard to go ahead in life will likely succeed made an allure that many Europeans cannot resist causing millions to immigrate to America.

Many people in Europe and in Asia came to America because of the troubles of their homeland or the opportunity in America or both they came in great masses to America to seek a better life.

President Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter was born to a rich farmer family in rural Georgia in October 1924. Rural Georgia is comprised inside the deep south where slavery was once predominant causing it to be among the last strongholds of ethnic segregation, so Jimmy grew up in that segregationist culture, but he didn’t like it until he had many close black friends, which formed his anti-segregationist stance for the rest of his life.

Carter first entered into politics when he became a Georgia state senate. He eventually wanted to try to become the Georgian governor, but he failed because he openly wanted segregation to end, so he lost. Carter didn’t give up on this first loss, he worked harder but with a different strategy, he became close to segregationist leaders making him look like a segregationist causing him to be elected as Georgian governor. When he became governor he suddenly showed his desegregation side and made much legislation desegregating Georgia.

In the 1967 presidential election, Jimmy successfully became president mostly because of him not having been corrupted by Washington DC politics and other things.

Jimmy Carter did many good things as president, but sadly got many hard challenges that he cants solve. The hard challenges are like the 1970s recession, reescalation with the Soviet Union because of USSR invading Afghanistan, and the worse was the Iranian Hostage Crisis where he cants successfully free American hostages in Iran for 444 days.

He was a bad president because he can’t deal rightly with the hard challenges he faced, but he was not a bad guy, even winning a Nobel Peace Prize.

Spreadsheet

I learned that I make a good income from tutoring, and other jobs for my parents. Another thing I learned is that keeping track of your spending is very helpful and useful, it saves me time and money. I feel good knowing my monthly income is more than enough for the expenses I have. After really looking into my income and the amount of time I take to do my jobs; I have come to realize that for the amount of time I take I have a really good income. I’m glad I figured out how to budget correctly and efficiently.

This is definitely the shortest assignment I have ever been given, but overall learning how to budget better was very useful.

Parts of the Civil War

The battle of Fort Henry was an early major battle on the western front of the American civil war. Fort Henry was in Stewart County, Tennessee. Fort Henry was a fort on an island in the Tennessee river, that guarded the river against boats. Ulysses. S. Grant commander of the Tennesse army and Andrew Hull Foote commander of the navy attacked the fort on February 6, 1862. The fort was defended poorly causing it to be captured easily.

The battle of Fort Donelson was located east of Fort Henry on the Cumberland River. Fort Donelson was well-fortified causing it to defeat the navy. The battle of Fort Donelson took several days from February 11 to February 16, 1862. The union army surrounded it and tried to attack the fort with frontal charges. On February 15, 1862, the Confederates made a surprise attack to open a line of retreat to Nashville, but Grant and the union army successfully barred most of the Confederate army from escaping. The Confederates surrendered on February 16, 1862.

It was interesting to learn about the civil war. and learn about the devastation and death resulting from it. Americans that were once friends and brothers fought each other, because of a belief.

Spanish American War

The Spanish-American war started in the date of April 21, 1898, and finished at the date of December 10, 1898. The Spanish-American war is a short and one-sided war between America and Spain.

The Spanish for several years was dealing with an uprising against the Spanish colonial rule by the natives. The Spanish were repressing the rebellion in severe ways, that were widely publicized in America which caused many Americans to be sympathetic towards the Cubans; Making the Spanish look unfavorable.

America sent a warship named USS Maine to Havana Cuba to guard the Americans in the city from harm. Suddenly the Warship exploded and sank into the port. The sinking of Maine was publicized and identified as an attack by the Spanish.

Because of the reports that Spain had attacked an American warship and killed many Americans, President Mckinley declared war against Spain. The Americans immediately after the declaration of war, attacked simultaneously with superior weapons and numbers attacking Spain such as Cuba, the Philippines, and some Caribbean islands, which overwhelmed the much weaker army of Spain. defeating all Spanish armies in only 3 months and 3 weeks.

The result of the war is that Spain was deprived of most of its colonial possessions and America gained the first oversea territories. The war brought global recognition of America as a world power that is strong and not a force to be reckoned with.

Reconstruction Era

The Reconstruction is a period of time after the civil war from the year 1865 to 1877. Reconstruction was a movement that wanted to bring the secession states back to the union and guarantee freedom to the freed slaves.

There were three presidents, presiding over the reconstruction Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S Grant, and Rutherford B Hayes. Andrew Johnson was a southerner and more of a moderate during the reconstruction highly disliked by the republicans for his moderate way of reconstruction. Ulysses S Grant was a staunch republican who enforces strict measures for the integration of the south and the freeing of slaves. Rutherford B Hayes was president at the end of the reconstruction when it wasn’t popular anymore, so he ended it.

Three Amendments were passed that ensured black people freedom from slavery and other freedoms such as the freedom to vote. The Reconstruction was enforced by the army that was given the right to protect black people’s freedoms by the Enforcement Acts that were passed by Congress.

The Republicans were the extreme staunch hardliners that want to immediately equalize black and white freedom. The democrats were the other extreme of the republicans they wanted to hold up that white people are a superior race to the black people, the democrats were highly against the reconstruction and used violence and laws to stop the reconstruction.

At the end of the reconstruction not all the freedoms of the black people were upheld in the south but it caused greater freedom the black people had never felt before in America.

Are Simple Joys are as Valuable as Complex Experiences?

Simple joys are valuable because you experience happiness from common things and experiences. for example, a simple joy could come from completing a painting or going on a walk in the evening. Simple joys teach us that happiness does not need to come from extravagant, rare things, but it comes from simple everyday objects and activities.

Complex experiences are important life experiences. Complex and difficult experiences are important because it gives us new skills, and we can overcome certain obstacles and problems.

Prompt: Many people think that the most important life experiences are the difficult ones, such as finding a solution to a problem, or overcoming a great life obstacle. These experiences, which can be unpleasant at times, are worthwhile because of what we learn from them. However, simple joys can be just as valuable. Uncomplicated activities, such as spending time with friends, savoring a meal, or appreciating the beauty of nature can bring us great happiness.

The War of 1812

The War of 1812 was a war between the English and the Americans. Besides the two major combatants, the Native Indians allied themselves with the British. The Native Indians were led by chief Tecumseh who heralded all the tribes in the northwest. The war started in 1812 hence its name and ended in 1815. In the war of 1812, the British were having a war with Napoleon French in mainland Europe.

The reason the Americans went declared war against the British because of four reasons: The British were blockading American ships from trading with the French, The British were forcing American sailors to join the navy to fight the French, and The British were arming the native Indians to fight America from settling the west, and the Americans wanted to incorporate Canada into the union.

The war was fought mostly in the northern states of the United States and Canada. There were other fronts in the war such as the Ocean the southern states and other fronts. There were many battles in the war, but it ended in a stalemate.

The war was an inconclusive war where nobody in the end have an upper hand. A treaty was signed in 1815 called the treaty of Ghent causing the war of 1812 to officially end, there were no major changes to the land boundaries of England or America.

Tax Refund Methods

What is a tax refund advance? A tax refund advance is a short term loan that allows you to borrow money from your tax refund before you actually receive the money. Usually this type of loan has a high interest rate. The interest rate for this type of loan can be very high, maybe even up to almost 40%, which is ridiculous in my opinion. But there are still many other tax refund loans that are only 0% APR.

In my opinion if the tax refund advance option has an interest rate involved, then I would only ever use it if I need money right away, for an important reason; other than that if the interest rate is very high, like almost 40% high, then what is the point to lose a good amount of money in order to use part of it right away.
